Simple Country Accompaniment

WOW – after I finished this – this should be a MONTHLY LESSON ASSIGNMENT – please take your time and really absorb what I am showing you here.

Basic Country or early Rock and Roll – accompaniment styles are rhythmic in nature and usually falls on the 2 and 4 counts.

  • Chord Exercise (Key of F)
    • (I Chord) Play F Scale 2 octaves – do Arpeggio & Chord
      • Fingering Rule – 1234-1224
  • (IV Chord) Play BbM Scale – 2 octaves – do Arpeggio & Chord
    • All Flat Scales –4th on Bb
  • (V7 Chord) Play C Major 2 octaves –do Arpeggio & Chord
    • Locate 7th tone and flat it for 7th Chord
  • Teen Angel – Chord Practice – Link – Teen Angel Solo w:accompaniment

    • Practice Changing through these Chords
    • NOW – practice Teen Angel – follow the accompaniment line
    • Chords only FIRST
    • NOW – take these same chords and – Rolling Chords  – Reading Accompaniment Line
    • Lastly – Open the Level 2 SOLO version – PLEASE READ – the notes I added to the melody note – and you will see they are EXACTLY the chords you did in the accompaniment. I have also added a few FRILLS!!!! – have fun with the grace notes – LINK – Teen Angel Solo (Level 2)
  • Swing Low Sweet Chariot – Chord Practice Key of G

    • OPEN – Swing Low Sweet Chariot-chords only
    • PUT PINKY on G and play chords only (Review Key of G Chords from CHORD POSITIONS ALL KEYS link above)
    • HA -HA – the staff is empty!!!! It time for you to FLY!!! little bird!!!!
    • NOW – OPEN the level 1 – SOLO – Swing Low Sweet Chariot
    • Sing Melody and play chords only
    • THEN try to add some chords under the melody
    • WATCH OUT – “Lay Over” Bass Style also
