Mary, Did You Know?

The Voice – just had Jordan Smith perform this and I am getting all kinds of requests to write it out. I know this is late for Christmas – but I wrote two versions – lead line and with the basses written out – it should not be too hard to perform by Christmas!!!

Thanks Lloyd for “pushing” me to get this for you!!! (oops – as of 12-27 – corrected boo-boo in measure 38 – Thanks Donna Maria for the catch)

About the Song:

Mary, Did You Know?” is a Christmas song with lyrics and music written by Mark Lowry and Buddy Greene. It was originally recorded by Christian recording artist, Michael English on his solo debut album in 1991 (English and Lowry were both members of the Gaither Vocal Band). Lowry would record the song several times himself, most notably with the Gaither Vocal Band on their 1998 Christmas album.

The song has since gone on to become a modern Christmas classic, being recorded by many artists over the years across multiple genres.

A duet version recorded by Wynonna Judd and Kenny Rogers peaked at No. 55 on the Billboard Hot Country Singles & Tracks charts in 1997. “Mary, Did You Know?” is the sixth track on Pentatonix’s second Christmas album, That’s Christmas to Me.[5] The song both debuted and peaked at No. 26 on the weekly Billboard Hot 100 chart for the week ending December 6, 2014.
